Traffic Management

During the 2017/2018 Financial year Farringdon Parish Council purchased 2 traffic management devices, which can be located, temporarily, at various sites around the village. In early 2022, a new Speed Indicator device was purchased which displays the drivers speed and a happy/angry face as appropriate. This device does not display the drivers speed if above 40mph.

The devices measure the speed of approaching cars and signal a reminder to drivers that the speed limit in Farringdon is 30mph. Farringdon is one of the few villages along the A32 that has a 30mph speed limit.

The devices can collect data such as the Date, time, speed of vehicles. The devices do not record registration numbers or take photographs of vehicles.

Farringdon Parish Council share the data with the Communities Against Noise and Speed (CANS), to provide evidence to the campaign to effectively lobby for speed enforcement and Hampshire Constabulary so that enforcement solutions can be better targeted.
