Your Parish Councillors
Farringdon Parish Council comprises of 9 (currently 7) Councillors who stand for a maximum 4 year term. The current term ends in May 2027. Councillors are not paid but are allowed to claim expenses. We have one paid member of staff, our Parish Clerk Mrs Debbie Batley. To contact the Parish Clerk please email [email protected]. As a parish councillor you would be representing the interests of the parishioners of Farringdon. To become a parish councillor you have to be elected to one of the seats on the Parish Council, or you could be co-opted if there is a vacancy. We currently we have 2 vacancies so you could be co-opted on to the Parish Council without the need for an election at the next parish council meeting if you meet the following criteria.
You would need to be:
- 18 years old or over; OR
- British, Commonwealth or Irish citizen or a citizen of another Member State of the European Union.
And either:
- registered as a elector in Farringdon; OR
- you are the owner or tenant of any land or premises in Farringdon; OR
- your principle or only place of work for the past 12 months or more has been in Farringdon; OR
- you have lived in Farringdon for the past 12 months or within 4.8km of it.
You cannot seek election if:
- you work for the Local Authority which has the vacancy or hold a politically restricted post;
- you are an undischarged bankrupt;
- you have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the past 5 years; OR
- you have been disqualified under any enactment relating to corrupt or illegal practices.
