Your Parish Councillors
Farringdon Parish Council comprises of 9 (currently 7) Councillors who stand for a maximum 4 year term. The current term ends in May 2027. We have one paid member of staff, our Parish Clerk - this role is currently vacant. To contact the Parish Clerk please email [email protected]. As a parish councillor you would be representing the interests of the parishioners of Farringdon. To become a parish councillor you have to be elected to one of the seats on the Parish Council, or you could be co-opted if there is a vacancy. We currently we have 2 vacancies so you could be co-opted on to the Parish Council without the need for an election at the next parish council meeting if you meet the following criteria.
You would need to be:
- 18 years old or over; OR
- British, Commonwealth or Irish citizen or a citizen of another Member State of the European Union.
And either:
- registered as a elector in Farringdon; OR
- you are the owner or tenant of any land or premises in Farringdon; OR
- your principle or only place of work for the past 12 months or more has been in Farringdon; OR
- you have lived in Farringdon for the past 12 months or within 4.8km of it.
You cannot seek election if:
- you work for the Local Authority which has the vacancy or hold a politically restricted post;
- you are an undischarged bankrupt;
- you have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment in the past 5 years; OR
- you have been disqualified under any enactment relating to corrupt or illegal practices.
